5 manhattan west

Manhattan West is an innovative, open space that connects New Yorkers. It is a large project that sits on 8-acres and uses over 7 million square feet. The goal of the project is to provide housing, work space, retail spots, and restaurants within walking distance of Penn Station and the 7 train. Manhattan West is known as the heart of the new west side and provides 2-acres worth of open, outdoor space.

Brookfield Office Properties, the project creator, broke ground on Manhattan West in January of 2013. The project consists of two office towers with 67 and 62 stories respectively, a 13 story loft, a boutique hotel and condo, an office space with 16 stories, a 62 story residential tower, a public plaza, and a large retail space. It’s safe to say that the developers behind Manhattan West thought of everything busy New Yorkers will possibly need.

The project is instrumental towards creating a connective environment that New Yorkers can enjoy. We are very happy to be working on the project, alongside AAI Architects PC and Rex Architecture. Our scope is inclusive to the 450 W 33rd building of the development. We custom fabricated round and square column cladding in the lobby of the building. We also provided cladding for the lobby reception desk.

Additionally, we fabricated custom stair treads and stringer wall panels for the buildings breezeway stair along with floor tile and wall panels at the elevator lobby at the end of the breezeway. The project used 1’’ thick glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) with cast in mechanical attachments. The color was custom developed for Concreteworks East specifically for this project. The finish is polished with a light acid wash to add some texture.

Since 1991, Concreteworks East has provided innovative design solutions from one of the world’s most flexible, beautiful, and sustainable materials, custom concrete. We have worked on a variety of projects, including Manhattan West, bars, restaurants, commercial structures, hardscapes, multi-unit residential structures, parks, and city projects.
