Board Form Concrete Panels

Board form concrete panels beautifully combine the movement, depth, and rawness of both wood and concrete into one product. This unique finish is achieved when concrete is cast onto wood paneling or boards pre-set into the mold. The grain, knots, and other unique characteristics of the wood are transferred to the concrete element, creating this increasingly popular finish for exterior and interior wall surfaces.

The board form effect can be fully customized specifically to your desired design concept. The boards can be sized anywhere between 4″ to 12″ to perfectly match the scale of the space. The boards could be laid flat to create a more refined look or randomly offset to create deeper variation in texture and movement. Additionally, the seam dimension between boards can be spaced to further achieve the desired look. Alternatively, full sized plywood sheet can be used to create a more monolithic appearing concrete panel.

Concreteworks East offers our board form in either keyed or squared panels. When it comes to board form concrete panels, the edge conditions play a crucial role in determining the overall aesthetic appeal of the panels. Two common edge conditions for these panels are keyed panels and squared panels. Keyed panels have interlocking keys or grooves along the edges that create a dimensional variance once installed. This makes them ideal for areas such as large wall spans, due to its visually interesting effect and uninterrupted look. On the other hand, squared panels have straight, sharp edges that create a clean and modern look. They are often used in architectural designs where a sleek and minimalist appearance is desired. Additionally, squared panels have a more streamlined installation process, which can save time and resources. Choosing between keyed or squared panels depends on the specific project requirements and design preferences.
